Broadway reaches for the stars

Nottingham Visual Arts

This Friday, from 7pm, NVA recommend you join Broadway for an outdoor cinema and an audio/visual experience. Created by Barret Hodgson of Vent Media, the screen will manifest on the terrace at Broadway for one night only, inviting audiences to an intergalactic al fresco cut and paste journey through space and time exploring vintage visions of the future from classic Sci-Fi films in a montage of compositional images. Delicious hot snacks and refreshments will be served.

At 10.30pm there will be a screening of 'In the dust of the stars', 1976, directed by the East German filmmaker, Gottfried Kolditz.

You’d think that the isolation of Sovietstyle communism would have at least shielded the citizens of East Germany from the worst excesses of seventies fashion, but the 1976 In the Dust of the Stars tells us otherwise. This retrogroovy sci-fi from behind the Berlin Wall concerns a crew of space travelers who find themselves on one of those planets where everything seems just a little too good to be true. Partying in red leather disco outfits, beautiful dancing girls in bikinis & veils, frequent casual nudity and a distinctly lob-sided female-to-male ratio, it’s Lenin a go-go!

Normal ticket prices apply. To book call 0115 952 6611 or book online
