NVA presents a small gallery of some recent work by Nottingham based designer Nicholas Chaffe. As a recent winner of best graphics & advertising prize at the Nottingham Creative Business Awards in 2009, we're excited to share his latest project with you.

After graduating from Croydon College in 2000, Nick has worked on a number of innovative projects including fashion graphics and trend forecasting, initially working for Spring London and then Insight Ltd. In the realm of advertising he has worked with Saatchi & Saatchi, AIS and Relay Marketing. His freelance experience since then has been in the realms of design, art and advertising focusing on art direction, branding, typography and sometimes illustration. He was one of the founding directors of Shop in Canning Circus.

'Recently I have been working with photographer Andy Taylor Smith on commercial work for the new Nottingham Contemporary building. For one specific project we were asked to photograph inside the unfinished building for a brochure to make the gallery look complete. On such shoots time can be a constraint trying to make sure you get the shots you need, but we also spent moments to stop and take images we just had a feeling about. The images here are using these photographs with text and shapes inspired from some of my favourite artworks.'
