The role of contemporary artist-run spaces in the UK

Talk, Lecture, Seminar
Wed, 17/02/2010 - 4:00pm - 6:30pm

Emily Wilczek presents her Research Seminar for the University of Nottingham, as part of a programme for the Nottingham Institute for Research in Visual Culture. Her talk centres around the role of contemporary artist-run spaces in the UK, and is drawn from her recent MRes thesis on "Art in fin de siècle Hull".

The talk will focus on artist-run organisations who facilitate production as well as exhibition of work, and how this offers a unique model of practice in the contemporary art world. This event is open to members of local artist-led organisations and the general public as well as the usual academic audience. It's completely free and there will be complimentary wine.
