Reactor
Reactor Towers is home to contemporary artists collective Reactor, otherwise known as Niki Russell, Jonathan Waring, Dan Williamson and a secret member who is elected every year as part of a curious ritual called the Martinmas Interviews. At the centre of Reactor's practice is the creation of projects where the audience becomes invoved directly with the work being made. The majority of the group's work can be seen in a site specific and perfomative context, often they are responsible for creating entire environments and utopian/distopian installations in a variety of settings from disused factories, old police stations to picturesque fields and woods.
Reactor creates projects that place the audience in a central and interactive role, exploring the dynamics of group behaviour and the production of collective reality and responsibility; demanding participants re-evaluate their relationship to the world they inhabit. Past projects include: The Geodecity Project (2007-9), Heron Corn Mill, Grizedale Arts, Arena Festival, Angel Row Gallery, The City Gallery and Quad; Munkanon (Austria, April 2008), Donau Festival; The Tetra Phase (Manchester, October 2007), Castlefield Gallery and Contact Theatre; Ivan’s Dogs (Nottinghamshire, June 2006), Sideshow Festival; GHAOS (2003-5), NOW Festival, Screenplay, LIFT, Diskurs Festival, Waygood Gallery, Situation Leeds and others.
Location
Reactor Towers is not open to the public as it is a working studio, but NVA recommends a look at the group's website to see forthcoming activities with the group.
