Moot

Moot opened its doors in October 2005 in the Sneinton area of Nottingham as an artist-led project space. It set out with an outward looking perspective by working with artists from all over the country and abroad. Its programme is a combination of solo and group exhibitions, off-site activities and publication projects. Moot does not formally represent artists; the gallery takes part in art fairs including the Zoo Art Fair to assist artists in establishing relationships with collectors and curators. A not-for-profit organisation, Moot receives public funding and operates commercial activity to fund it's programme. In September 2008, the gallery moved to a new premises taking over the ground floor of a four storey Victorian warehouse. Working alongside the studio group Stand Assembly, the three floors above the gallery will be transformed into artists' studios and a project space which will provide 20 artists and curators with new workspace. Moot is run by Tom Godfrey, Tristan Hessing, Candice Jacobs and Matt Jamieson. 2009 Exhibited Artists include: Tomas Chaffe, The Hex, Mike Cooter, Rachel Reupke, Dan Ford, Andrew Palmer, Eloise Hawser, Mark Pearson. Moot are also pleased to host EASTinternational video showreel of this years selected artists on 22nd July 8pm and will be working with Tomas Chaffe at the 2009 Artissima art fair in Turin, Italy.
