Groundworks: Creative Regeneration Programme

Groundwork East Midland’s Creative Regeneration Programme aims to make high quality, contemporary art a regular and integral part of regeneration projects across the region. 

 Groundwork has been working closely with regional agencies including Arts Council England, East Midlands and a number of nationally and internationally recognised artists to develop a strategic approach to embedding the arts in Groundwork projects across the region.

Much of the work has involved artists looking at creative ways of engaging communities so they feel comfortable in contributing ideas around what they would like to see in their area. The arts can provide a powerful mechanism for involving people in a very hands-on way allowing them the time and space to think about their environment in a fresh way. Whether planning a community garden or improving a public space, the early involvement of artists can help to inspire and enthuse people about the process, as well as add value to the result.

Groundwork’s Creative Regeneration team is uniquely placed to be able to support and offer advice and solutions for a whole range of regeneration projects.
