Shop Collective are looking for Interns, to work at our Head Quarters in Canning Circus, ASAP.

Candidates must be mature, self motivated, reliable, focused, well organized, with a creative degree or studying for a creative degree.

Ideally looking for someone with a keen interest in creative writing, exhibition curation, graphic design and sales.

The role will include opening and closing Shop, marketing, promotion, production, design and admin.

CALL FOR LIGHT NIGHT ARTIST COMMISSIONS

Light Night Artist Commission Calling all Nottingham City visual artists – we want to hear your bright ideas! The Nottingham Light Night event 2010 is looking for engaging new visual artworks in any form, which in some way incorporate light. Be part of an exciting event as Nottingham will light up on Friday 12th February with a variety of attractions throughout the city centre. For one evening only, visual artworks will be exhibited somewhere in the city centre – this might be a shop window, inside a church, outside on the street – TBC depending on the artwork.

Artworks might be 2D, 3D, installation, craft, digital etc. Send in a short proposal outlining concept and example visuals (including a photo of your recent work) to give an idea of your proposed new work. Proposals for the commission should include an idea of how light will feature as part of the work, and where in the city centre you would like to exhibit the work if feasible.

Commission details:

• Must be resident of/ born in Nottingham City • All ages and abilities are welcome to submit artwork • Artwork must be visual, no size restriction • Artworks if selected will need to be completed and ready to exhibit by the Light Night event -Friday 12th February 2010 • Artists will keep their artworks following the event • Power / lighting / venue / transportation for the artworks can be discussed and arranged if your proposal is commissioned. • Commissions will be awarded by the selection panel (Arts & Events, Nottingham City Council). Commission Fees (to include making the work, materials and light source) X1 Commission of £2,000 X1 commissions of £1,000 X1 commissions of £500 X2 commissions of £250

Nottingham Contemporary are now seeking key individuals to join their enthusiastic team

Front of House Coordinator 40hrs per week £16,000 – 18,500

You will have day-to-day responsibility for the reception desk, gallery assistants and will support the smooth running of the shop and events at the gallery as well as ensuring excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate will have good customer service experience and be comfortable in supervising others. You must also be available to work weekends and evenings when required.

Front of House Assistant £14,000 – 15,500 pro rata

12hrs weekends only

We require a front of house assistant to cover the gallery opening times, supporting the front of house team in ensuring excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have good customer service experience. Weekend and some evening work is required for the post. Please do not send a CV without an application form.

Gallery Assistants £6.20 per hr

We are looking to recruit a number of gallery assistants to invigilate the gallery spaces and support the general running of Nottingham Contemporary’s programme. The positions are employed on a casual basis and there will be various shifts available. The gallery spaces will be open 6 days per week from 10am until 7pm (earlier at the weekend). Some shifts could include evening work covering special events. Due to the seasonal nature of this role and the hours of work required, we cannot guarantee regular hours.

Cafe.Bar.Contemporary are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and experienced staff to join their team in the new bar and cafe at Nottingham Contemporary. This is an exciting opportunity to work for what promises to be one of the most popular and inspired new venues in the city.

Experienced Bar Staff – Full & Part Time

With a minimum of three years experience, you will be used to working in a busy city centre bar. You will also have excellent customer service abilities and the skills to work efficiently in a fast paced and demanding service environment. Weekend and late evening work will be required for these posts.

Experienced Waiters / Waitresses – Full & Part Time

This is an excellent opportunity to join a food service team that prides itself on customer attention, excellence and initiative. You will ideally have a minimum of three years restaurant or event catering experience and be used to providing high quality table service. The cafe bar will have up to 80 covers, host large events and have further seating on its outside sun terrace – making it a busy environment that will require energy and enthusiasm to service efficiently. Weekend and late evening work will be required for these posts.
