Coaching for Artists in Regeneration Settings – Outline

The course is designed to be practical – you will learn and practice a range of coaching, facilitation and goal setting techniques that are highly relevant to both your own development and the groups that you work with.  There will be a balance of theory and work in pairs and threes. 

You will be provided with a full set of notes plus a reading list of books and websites that you will find useful and interesting.

Day One (half day):         9.30 – 12.30

Introductory Session
Tutor & Participant introductions and expectations check
Groundrules
Coaching definitions
Basic principles
Introduction to Techniques – we will learn two one-to-one coaching techniques, and practice them in pairs/threes.
Applications – based on our experience of learning and practice, where could we apply these techniques and with whom?
Homework – set a goal to practice the techniques we have learned between sessions.

Day Two (full day): Morning session  9.30 – 12.30

Recap and feedback on our trial coaching
More in-depth theory
Two more techniques – for use in group settings where you need to facilitate inclusively – ensuring everyone gets to contribute.
Practice

Afternoon session    1.15 – 4.15

Recap
Two more techniques – for use where you need to ‘break through’ procrastination or resistance to change.
Practice
Individual coaching and goal setting
Personal action plans – to utilise the techniques in our daily work.
