Opportunity Notts: Community Arts Projects in schools
Arts Partnership Nottinghamshire (APN) is looking for a freelance creative practitioner or organisation to act as lead artist / creative coordinator to contribute to the deliver of four linked community arts projects in schools in North Nottinghamshire. The selected artist / organisation will deliver phase 1 of the programme in June – July 2010 and, subject to project review, phase 2 in September 2010 – March 2011.
Tamhs Background.
Targeted Mental Health in Schools (Tamhs) is a three-year pathfinder programme aimed at supporting the development of innovative models of therapeutic and holistic mental health support in schools for children and young people aged 5 to 13 at risk of, and/or experiencing, mental health problems; and their families.
Purpose of Intervention.
To provide a community-based Arts Project with a theme of ‘Improving Emotional Health and Well-being ‘within the three identified secondary schools (Sutton Centre, Garibaldi and Serlby Park) and one primary school (Samuel Barlow).
The projects will be designed by the Schools in consultation with the artist.
The children eligible to be included within the Tamhs Project are those aged between 5 and 13. Therefore the project at Samuel Barlow will be a whole school project. The projects at the secondary schools will be for years 7 and 8, it may be that this project is worked across both years or is distinct for both groups and is part of transitions work with year 6/7.
The project is designed to enhance the overall emotional health and well-being of the children and young people within their environment.

A fee of £2,000 is available for phase 1 and an additional fee (TBC) of £8,000 for phase 2.
