Councillor Jon Collins, Chair of One Nottingham and Leader of Nottingham City Council, said: "We have some incredibly talented young people in our city and it's important that we recognise and celebrate their abilities. This is a great chance for our best young creative talents to step into the limelight and gain some valuable experience that will help them if they choose a career in our creative industries."

Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of College of Art and Design and Built Environment at Nottingham Trent University, Ann Priest, added: "Nottingham Trent University and its forerunners have nurtured talent and creativity in the city and region for over 170 years by offering a broad range of programmes from Architecture to Fine Art. It is well known that the College of Art and Design and Built Environment has attracted students from all over the world to study and contribute to the city's vibrant community, before graduating as confident and highly employable creative practitioners. Together with our partner institutions across the region, we offer a ladder of opportunity for young people aspiring to be entrepreneurs or practitioners employed in the creative industries.

"We are supporting these awards now because we want to promote and celebrate young creative talent from across our region. Our future world needs creativity and innovation and giving Nottinghamshire young people the opportunity to be recognised in this competitive environment is important for theirs and the region's developing potential."

Professor Karen Cox, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Staffing and the Community at The University of Nottingham, said: "The University is delighted to be able to support the Young Creative Awards 2010. Developing and nurturing the talent of young people is a core part of what we do as a University, and these awards are a great opportunity to help more young people achieve their goals in a wide range of fields."
