Sideshow is coming to town

Summary of artists selected for commissions, how you and your project can be involved, and how you can volunteer.

Last week, Sideshow invited Nottingham artists and whoever was interested, to a general meeting to present commissioned projects, and to reveal information about the main venues and events for the festival. In addition to this, it was revealed how other projects and individuals could register their interest and how it was possible to become involved as a volunteer.

Over a series of 2 days, Sideshow invited a panel comprised of Lotte Juul Petersen, Wysing Arts Centre; Robert Bowman, Artangel; Kitty Anderson, The Common Guild; and Phil Duckworth and Ben Sadler, Juneau Projects and Sideshow commissioned projects. Below are the 15 projects, which made it through to be commissioned by Sideshow. Although each project was put forward by one person or group, in many cases there are several more people behind the scenes working on each project to make it a reality in time for October-December this year. Sideshow estimates that the commissioning initiative will fund over 100 people overall. To our surprise and delight, many projects from outside of Nottingham were proposed for the festival.
