Walls and Floors Residency
LIFT ARTS PROGRAMME: A creative vision for integrating visual and participatory art commissions and projects within Bulwell Joint Services Centre
The partnership of Nottingham City Council, NHS Nottingham City and GN LIFT Co are seeking an experienced artist to provide an imaginative and innovative design for walls and floors throughout the new Bulwell JSC building, linking the brand new £22m Joint Service Centre to the community. The walls and floors artwork and design will provide a significant vital thread throughout the building and key spaces to connect, harmonise, and enhance people’s experience of the interior, creating a positive impact as people negotiate the building environment and use of its services. The work may utilise form, colour and text where appropriate to create subtle or dynamic spaces in response to the services. We consider the walls and floors as a creative canvas for innovation, where we would envisage contemporary designs of visual clarity able to withstand visual changes in design trends in the future.
Bulwell’s JSC is planned to kick start ambitious plans for the social, economic and environmental re-development and regeneration of Bulwell Town Centre and surrounding area (see attached documents for more detailed information). We anticipate the arts programme will foster greater ownership of the new facilities by creating connections with local people through artist-led projects and participatory activity.
