The piece available here as a download comes from the author's first farm visit, living with a family in the small town of Ullapool, northern Scotland.  Through powerful descriptions of experience, the juxtaposition of time-specific blog against reflection from the present, themes of difference and locality arise in the text.  Barney, who was born in Nottingham and continues to work from a studio in her parents' house in north Leicestershire hopes that her work sheds light on the struggle and joy of being young.
