Nottingham Visual Arts Internship
Nottingham Visual Arts are seeking an intern to assist with the day to day running of the online publication at an exciting time of development and change. Although the post is unpaid, this is a fantastic opportunity for a recent arts graduate wishing to gain experience in writing and editing, press and marketing, webdesign, organising events and exhibitions and curating.
You will be working closely with editors Andrew Cooper and Jennie Syson to create weekly newsletters, listings and reviews as well as helping with the organisation and delivery of the British Art Show Fringe in 2010. The post will be shaped in some respects to the needs and interests of the successful candidate, but we require you to commit to at least one day a week.
A good grasp of English, IT and visual art would be an advantage, and knowledge and experience of graphic design and website building would be useful but not essential.You must also have access to a computer and live in Nottingham.

* 500-1000 word review about a recent exhibition or performance OR a piece of creative writing of a similar length.

Studio Output are looking for an exceptional organiser with great communication skills to help run their Nottingham studio, while developing new and existing clients. After a period of on-the-job training, your duties will include assigning projects to a tight-knit design team and ensuring smooth workflow; estimating, project planning, scheduling and management of print and web production through to evaluation. Copywriting, Mac skills and experience of a studio environment would be an advantage.

Bilborough Library, Nottingham City Library & Information Service, will be 80 years old in January 2010. They are looking for engaging visual artwork in any form which would celebrate libraries or the local community.

The artwork might be inside the library or outside but within the library grounds. It would be a permentant piece of art and could form part of the fabric of the building such as railings.
Send in a short proposal outlining concept and example visuals (including a photo of your recent work) to give an idea of your work.
Commission details:
• All ages and abilities are welcome to submit artwork
• Artwork must be visual, no size restriction
• Artworks if selected will need to be completed and ready to exhibit
• Commissions will be awarded by the selection panel of staff & councillors.
Commission Fees
Commission of £4,000 to include all creation and installation costs
Ideally the piece would be ready for the celebration in January but this could be negotiated if proposals are ready for display.

Ninth annual Sculpture in the Garden exhibition at University of Leicester: expressions of interest invited

Sculptors are invited to submit expressions of interest for Heart, Head and Hands, to take place at the Harold Martin Botanic Garden at the University of Leicester from June to October 2010.
This will be the ninth year the University of Leicester has hosted this major sculpture show, which encompasses a diverse collection of sculpture in a variety of materials, scale and design. The unique Botanic Garden provides a striking setting of large open green spaces, rockeries, trees, flower beds and a pool area to animate both sculptor and the visitor.
The exhibition takes the theme of Heart, Head and Hands and will be curated by sculptor John Sydney Carter FRBS. It will feature new sculptures by some of the most renowned international, national and regional sculptors in the country.
The exhibition is being managed by The Richard Attenborough Centre, the University of Leicester’s arts centre. You can find out about last year’s sculpture exhibition at www.le.ac.uk/racentre
If you wish to be considered for the 2010 exhibition, which will be taking place from Saturday 26 June to October 2010, please supply up to 10 images (no more than 300dpi), a CV detailing your experience, an artist’s statement, and an indication of the size(s) of your work if possible. If proposing a new piece of sculpture, please send a drawing and up to 10 images of previous work. Please note all works should be suitable to be displayed outside.
