FORMAT opportunity
The deadline for applications for the FORMAT International Photography Festival Professional Practice Summer School is approaching. Final applications need to be in by 26th April 2010.
The FORMAT Summer School will be a five day intensive, research oriented workshop which will take place on 14th to 18th June (inclusive). Eight places are available for participants, ranging from professional photographers to recent graduates. Led by acclaimed photographer Simon Norfolk, The Format Summer School aims to support personal photographic growth in a focused environment.
Simon Norfolk is an international award winning photographer. He was winner of the 2002 European Publishers’ Award for Photography; the Olivier Rebbot Award (Foreign Press Association of America); the International Centre of Photography Infinity Award; the Terence Donovan Award from the Royal Photographic Society; Les Rencontres d’Arles Award; the Association of Photographers’ ‘Document’ Prize as well as the Association of Photographers’ Bursary Award. More recently he has been commissioned as the official Election Artist by the Speaker's Advisory Committee on Works of Art to follow the campaign activity up to Election Day.

The Professional Practice Summer School is part of FORMAT’s programme of professional development events and activity, designed to support established and emerging photographers. FORMAT International Photography Festival is one of the UK’s leading contemporary photography and media biennale festivals, organised by QUAD in partnership with Derby City Council, University of Derby and Arts Council of England.
